Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno has denied reports by the World Bank that the county has only used eight per cent of its budget on development.
Speaking to the press in his office yesterday, Chemno termed the report as unfounded saying that the county allocated half of its budget to development.
Chemno said that the report’s authors did not consult or countercheck their facts.
“The government allocated 34 per cent of its budget to development in the last financial year,” Chemno said.
Chemno called the report misleading and that is existed to discredit the work done by the county government.
Chemno said that Uasin Gishu government was committed to its service and that it would not be swayed by shoddy reports. He went on to ask elected leaders in the county to work with the government to promote development.
Chemno added that unity of leaders would be critical to development being realised; he noted that the top agenda of the county was to promote the living standards of the people.
