Chemno say that such officers’ days are numbered and that they risk arrest, prosecution and being sacked.

Speaking from his office on Thursday, Chemno said that he has received credible information from his officers.

“After comprehensive investigations, officers from the department of revenue collection are involved in corruption where if a businessman or woman is not in possession of a business permit he/she just pays some money to the officer and thereafter allowed to continue with their business,” he said.

He added that this makes the county government lose a lot of money through few self-centred individuals.

"Uasin Gishu County is losing over two hundred million shillings through corruption in the revenue collection department. We have decided to seal those loopholes completely by automation of revenue collection department and making sure that revenue collection officers are of high integrity," he said.

He reiterated that the county government is determined to reach its target of Sh1 billion in revenue collection urging wananchi to help them in achieving the goal.

He asked them to report any revenue collection officers involved in corruption.
