Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has asked the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) to establish a board that will look upon the cross-border businesses among counties.
Speaking on Wednesday in his office when he received a NACADA delegation on a courtesy call, Chemno said the two levels of government need to enforce stringent laws that will bar the business of illicit drugs.
"The National and the County Government is working to realize one objective of improving the livelihoods of Kenyans," said Chemno.
He further pointed out that prolonged and unsolved cases of drugs need to be hastened for the impacts to be felt.
The Deputy Governor added that the county's administration has been continuously admitting drug addicts into rehabilitation Centers.
A good example is that of David Kibet Kiboinet who just last week, governor Jackson Mandago together with his Deputy, issued a certificate of participation that outlined types of activities which he took during 90 days of rehabilitation services at Haven Recovery Centre.
On his part, NACADA Chief Executive Officer Victor Okioma lauded Uasin Gishu County for the efforts they have made in the fight against illicit brews.
Okioma added that the mission is to understand the problems faced by the residents on matters drugs.
"Apart from looking at the two structures, we are also looking at consultative approaches with responsible leaders," he noted.
