Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged the Ministry of Education to vet all higher learning institutions offering Engineering courses.
He said, most institutions do not even have practical equipment to be used by students.
"Three quarter of institutions of higher learning offering Engineering courses are not recognised by the engineering board, putting the future of students at stake," he said.
Speaking during the Information Advancement of Humanity (IFAH) Conference on Tuesday at Eldoret National Polytechnic, Chemno urged institutions to embrace innovation and research to achieve vision 2030.
"I am calling upon the Ministry of Education to invest fully in research and innovation by equipping and Training manpower for the county to be industrious," he said.
He however said that the county has sponsored 60 students at Eldoret National Polytechnic to pursue technical courses.
