Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno has urged the national government through the Ministry of Education to allocate more funds to Moi University to improve its facilities.

He said despite it being one of the best universities in the country and having qualified lecturers it lacks proper facilities leading to poor education standards.

"It is sad that even the regulator cannot accredit the university to run its own programmes since they don't have facilities. Something needs to be done before we lose this prestigious university founded by the retired president Daniel Arap Moi," he said during Moi University's 35th graduation ceremony, Thursday.

"I urge the National government through the ministry of Education to allocate more funds for the university for it to regain its glory. I applaud Professor Laban Ayiro's leadership and promise to work together," he added

He urged graduands to be innovative and go for self-employment since white collar jobs are limited.

"You should always ask what you have for the government and not what the government has done for you," noted Chemno.
