Ainabkoi member of parliament William Chepkut has urged Teachers  Service Commission (TSC) to deploy more teachers in his constituency.

He said that there was a high shortage of teachers in the constituency leading to less impact on students.

“I want to urge TSC and the Ministry of education to hire more teachers for our children to get quality and not quantity education. As am talking it is sad that we have a shortage of over 180 teachers,” he said in Eldoret town after meeting Primary and secondary school principals from his constituency, Friday.

“We want TSC to at least be employing 20,000 teachers per year to at least bridge the teacher's shortage gap,” he added.

He, however, congratulated Secondary schools principals for their exemplary performance in the 2017 KCSE examinations.

“I want to congratulate my secondary school principals for a job well done, despite the teacher's shortage you made us proud, since out of 90 secondary schools 50 got a mean score of 250 and above making us number one in the six sub-counties,” he noted.

On the transfer of teachers urged the affected head teachers to comply since they were employed to serve in any part of the country and not their home counties.
