Cherargei reveals why there are frequent accidents at Salgaa

Nandi senator Samson Cherargei has revealed why there are frequent accidents at  Salgaa hotspot along Eldoret- Nakuru highway.

He said there are three Kalenjin elders who lost their lives at Salgaa blackspot some years back and they might be the cause of road carnage being witnessed at the place day in day out.

“The solution to this mess is not disbanding NTSA, but the road must be cleansed by Kalenjin elders for normalcy to prevail. I will personally lead this exercise, we are tired of our people losing their lives every now and then and if this is done I assure you that no accident will take place,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

“I am also calling upon the government to relocate the Sachangwan mass graves to an alternative place since their spirits might also be the cause of accidents because according to Kalenjin traditions people are not supposed to be buried at the roadside,” he added.

He called upon the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in conjunction with the Ministry of transport to construct a dual carriage road along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

“This will also help reduce the road accident by 80 percent,” noted Cherargei.
