Kuresoi South Member of Parliament Zakayo Cheruiyot wants Deputy President William Ruto to call former president Mwai Kibaki to witness in his defense at the ICC.
Speaking Sunday during a church service at the Kuresoi AIC church, Cheruiyot said that the Party of National Unity (PNU), which was under the leadership of Kibaki must have been part of Ruto fixers at the Hague-based court.
Cheruiyot said that senior officials who served in the Kibaki regime some of whom are still in government must take to the stand in defense of Ruto.
“People are making noise about Raila going to testify for Ruto, but what they are forgetting is to tell the real people who fixed Ruto to go and testify for him,” said Cheruiyot.
“Let us stop being hypocritical and face this issue head on because the people who fixed Ruto were in PNU and even his lawyers have indicated that. People like Francis Kimemia, Mutea Iringo and Nancy Gitau who are still in government must take to the stand and defend Ruto,” added Cheruiyot.
“If need be, former president Mwai Kibaki must also be called to testify because he was the leader of PNU which allegedly fixed Ruto at The Hague,” added Cheruiyot.
Cheruiyot slammed those opposing former Prime minister’s offer to testify for Ruto, saying that those opposing it are engaging in cheap politics.
