Speaking on Tuesday in Kisii town, Commission on Revenue Allocation chairman Micah Cheserem said county governments use more money in payment than in development.

“I am calling upon the county governments in this nation to use money they receive from the central government in fostering development than using a lot in recurrent expenditure ,” Cheserem said.

“If this money is reduced, then Kenyans will see real value for their money and minimize complaints. Those drafting budgets should give development priority," he added.

Cheserem also downplayed doctors and nurses requests to have their salaries increased by 300 percent insisting that the move will impact negatively on the economy of the country.
