A middle age man met his death ton Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the at Tabaka Mission Hospital after a mob justice for allegedly stealing chicken.
According to the mob the man identified as Duke Bwana is said to have sneaked into the house of Mama Lucy Magoma in Tabaka sub county Bochere village and grabbed two hens.
But a neighbour who spotted the suspect trying to escape with the chicken raised an alarm attracting an angry mob that caught up with the suspect and subjected him to a thorough beating.
Confirming the incidence, Tabaka Police station spokesperson Teresa Ndichu said that the man was beaten by the mob and upon police arrival he was in a critical condition he was rushed to Tabaka mission hospital where he passed on.
She added that the suspect was taken to a nearby clinic but referred to Tabaka mission hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
“We have let people record statement on the incident and we want to bring those who played a role in the incident face charges since it is wrong to take law on to their hands and kill the man who we are not even sure if he was a thief,” said Teresa.
She asked the residents to always call the police instead of taking law into their hands since it is a criminal offense.
