The current Mekenene location Chief Winfred Ochengo is accused of blind folding area residents and subsequently altering their land title deeds for his own benefit.

A group of angry residents camped outside his compound on Friday demanding explanation from him on the aforementioned allegations.

According to Willis Monda, a victim, the chief allegedly offered to help him to acquire a land title deed from Nyamira only to realise a few days later that the accused had deliberately tampered with details in the document.

“He took advantage of my illiteracy and decided to blind fold me. He altered my documents at the registry making my land his own,” said Monda.

Another victim Moses Ombati accused the chief of fraud since he had allegedly given him Sh100,000 to secure him a piece of land in the neighbourhood, but has since failed to do so and has continuously given lame excuses.

“This man is a conman. I gave him some money to secure me a piece of land but have been playing games with my conscious. This is completely unacceptable. I have a clue that he bought the land and used his power to process a title deed,” claimed Ombati.

Efforts to reach the accused administrator were futile since he ignored our calls before going off air but his wife; Olpha Mokeira denied any knowledge about the issue and urged the aggrieved to report the matter to authorities.
