Komu sub-location Assistant Chief Joseph Njoroge has asked residents going for vacation over a period of time during this holiday to designate the surveillance of their houses and property to their trustworthy neighbours who will not be travelling.
Njoroge has said that this is the surest way to ensure that cases of burglary are reduced and residents' properties remain safe.
"Many residents of this sub-location are not locals and most will probably be travelling to the countryside for some days to celebrate the holidays with their families," said Njoroge at Muthaiga in Kamenu on Wednesday.
He added: "It is, therefore, wise for these people to designate the surveillance of their properties to their trusted neighbours."
The assistant chief made the same call to the businesspeople who will be away saying that their immediate business neighbours were the best placed to raise an alarm in case of any eventuality.
"And when you travel home don't forget to keep in touch with that neighbour that you have left in charge of your property. Call them regularly to know how things are," Njoroge said.
