Lanet Chief Francis Kariuki is appealing for well-wishers both from organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of poor bright pupils in his area of jurisdiction to join secondary school.
The Chief who spoke to this writer in his office on Monday morning said that several children in Lanet area who performed well in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education last year risk failing to pursue secondary education because they come from poor families.
According to Chief Kariuki, the pupil’s have also not benefited from the government’s fees bursary fund through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) due to various logistic reasons.
“Some of the pupils’ parents lack of information on how to go about applying for the fund while others delayed to apply as they had not secured their result slips were definitely some of the reasons why the pupils were locked out of the approved bursary money,’’ claimed Chief Kariuki.
He said one of the bright pupils Tabitha Wanjiku who is an orphan scored 350 marks in her KCPE exams from Lanet Primary School but she is unable to Join Naivasha Girls Secondary School where she has received an admission letter from.
“I am appealing to well-wishers to come to the aid of these children because education is very important,” added Kariuki.
