A chief in Migori County has been arrested for being in possession of stolen electricity conductors belonging to Kenya Power.

Zachary Odera, who is the area chief for Magungu Central was arrested with two other suspects, Erick Opolo and Anne Nyokwaka.

The three appeared before Chief Magistrate E Ngaya on Wednesday at the Migori Law Court and pleaded not guilty to the offense.

However, Kenya Power Chief Security Officer for South Nyanza region, Mr Peter Kithusia accused the three of planning to carry out illegal power connection in the area in the name of Kenya Power company.

They were released on a cash bail of 100,000.

The case will be heard on September 7.
