Kerwa Chief Samuel Ngaruiya has called on villagers to report people they suspect are posing threat to security.

Addressing elders at his office on Thursday, the chief said that the government has started plans meant to boost security with police officers conducting patrols and nailing criminals.

The Chief added that elders have to support security measures meant to curb criminal activities.

“We have set in place adequate measures meant to ensure that residents’ security is guaranteed,” said Ngaruiya.

The Chief indicated that the government is committed to boosting safety of residents but asked them to support the state.

He observed that locals are aware of the hideouts of criminals and that they should feel free to share with the police.

Ngaruiya said that his office is open to all stating that no one will be victimised for providing information noting that the partnership between residents and the police will go along way in taming insecurity.

The chief said that the introduction of the Nyumba Kumi initiative has greatly reduced criminals activities adding that crime will be a thing of the past if residents embrace the initiative.
