Mawingu sub-location assistant chief Joseph Rotich was given marching orders shortly after being summoned by Rift Valley regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo.

Musiambo confirmed that Rotich was sacked for being drunk while on duty and abetting the sale of illicit brews.

He further said the chief would be arraigned in court over the same.

"The assistant chief has been dismissed from service with immediate effect. He is a disgrace and has betrayed the government which is determined to end the sale of illicit liquor," Musiambo said.

The police boss also said the chief confessed to taking a little chang'aa on the material day.

The chief was caught dead drunk in a camera during President Kenyatta's tour of the region last week.

The video which later went viral on social media showed the chief rolling on the ground while trying to express himself in his drunken stupor.
