Loitering of schoolchildren in market places and along the roads has raised concern from the government's law enforcement machinery.
Itumbe location, Sameta sub-county chief Henry Mirera has decried rampant cases of school children in his area of jurisdiction loitering in markets and roads during school sessions in the name of being sent out of school for levies.
Speaking during a public baraza at Nyang'eni village in Giasaiga sub-location in his location, Mirera warned school administrations against the consistent sending home of school children to collect various outstanding school levies, instead collaborate with his office to ensure parents whose children have balances are summoned to explain on the same.
Mirera singled out pupils from Eburi Primary School who he said loiter on the roads when they have been sent home for school levies, a situation he said could endanger lives of the learners while out of school without their parents' knowledge.
He warned parents of legal action for abetting parental negligence by failure to meet their obligations of paying school levies for their children and ensure they remain in school as required.
"I am asking school administrators from my location to compile lists of parents who fail to honour their parental obligations for their school children so that the law can take its course," said Mirera.
