Kabulgeny location senior Chief David Simatei has blamed the Judiciary for increased illicit alcohol sell and consumption within Eldoret town.Speaking in Eldoret, Simatei lamented that despite them arresting individuals involved in illegal alcohol selling business, suspects always end up being released on very low bond terms."As leaders, we are sometimes disappointed because you arrest somebody with hundreds of cartons of illegal alcohol only to be released on Sh5,000 bond, it's really discouraging," Chief Simatei said in Eldoret, Friday."I want to call upon the Judiciary to put harsh fines if they really want the fight against illegal liquor to be successful," he added. The chief, however, said the fight against the illicit alcohol in his location will continue until when all those involved are arrested and prosecuted."In the last one week, we have netted 900 litres of busaa, 30 litres of chang'aa and arrested 2 people who are helping us with the investigation," noted Simatei. He named Kambi Teso, Kamukunji slums, and Boma as some of the areas where the sale of illicit alcohol is still high.
