A Chief from South West Seme Location in Kisumu County has been today (Tuesday) morning charged in Maseno Court over allegation of defiling a minor.
The Chief Michael Odhiambo Oluoch was this morning arraigned before Maseno Magistrate Court after he allegedly defiled a 14-year-old girl who is said to be an orphan living with her grandmother on Sunday morning.
The accused was arrested by Police officers on Monday in his Seme Location and took him to Kombewa Police Station where he was detained before taken to court today morning.
According to the minor, the Chief called her in his home that day morning at around 9am with the aim of sending her to a shop.
The minor who is a class six pupil was allegedly defiled by the Chief at Kogundo village in Seme, Kisumu County from 9am to 4pm.
“After the Chief called me to send me to a shop, he then told I should wait for him to finish taking his tea before he could send me to my surprise, he al over sudden threw me on his bed,” narrated the minor.
Chief Oluoch appeared before Principal Magistrate Dolphin Okundi and denied that the accusations of him defiling and indecently touching the minor.
The Prosecution Desk opposed the Chief’s lawyer's request to have the suspect released on bond, awaiting hearing of the case which is scheduled for this Tuesday afternoon.
The accused lawyer Edwin Lugadiru said that his client appeared in court and is ready to abide by the terms of bond. Magistrate Okundi ruled in favour of the Prosecution Desk by denying the accused Chief bond as requested by his lawyer.
