Chief Justice David Maraga on Friday officially presided over the official opening ceremony of the Judiciary Annual Sports Day held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), Nairobi County.

The two-day event that ends tomorrow was graced by World Marathon holder, Eliud Kipchoge. Teams from 15 regions across all court stations are participating in different outdoor and indoor games.

The CJ said Judiciary must begin to think in terms of producing athletes who can compete on the international stage adding that the Judiciary Sports Day is a potentially good nursery for the nurturing of such talents.

He said the new Judiciary Training Institute complex that Judiciary intends to build should have full athletics track facilities. He added that sport is an important activity meant to build the Judiciary culture for the institutions’ holistic development and sustainability of its transformation.

“That is why the Judiciary Sports Day that we hold annually, is an important contributor to our productivity as workers, and to our good health as human beings,” Justice Maraga said.
