Chief David Rono of Chematich Location has appealed to the national government to supply relief food to drought-stricken villagers in his area.
Rono said that there was an acute of food and water shortages due to the prolonged drought.
“Most families have exhausted all food reserves and they are in threat of starving,” said Rono.
The administrator admitted that many families had not harvested enough food to take them through this year.
“Last year rain was unpredictable and many families were not able to harvest enough food,” said Rono.
Rono urged the national government to step in and save the drought-stricken families.
“The government should come in our rescue before things go out of hand,” said Rono.
The chief said that there is need for swift measures to salvage the situation before many families go to bed empty stomachs.
“I've evidence that many families are hardly getting anything to eat due to biting drought,” said Rono.
Rono also urged families with extra food reserves to help the less fortune.
“It's my will that the residents of Chematich will embrace brotherhood and help those in need of food,” said Rono .
Speaking today at Chematich Shopping Center during a public meeting, Rono urged the villagers to express humility during this pressing times.
