A local chief in Kisumu County was on Wednesday sentenced to 20 years in jail for defiling a 14-year-old girl. The court heard that the chief defiled the girl on June 6, 2015, in Seme Sub County, where the girl lived with her grandmother. He first appeared in court on June 9, 2015, where he was accused of luring the girl to his house while she was going to church. The court heard that the chief pretended that he wanted to send the minor to the shop, convincing her to enter his house where he defiled her from 9am to 4pm.The chief was released on a bond of Sh200,000 after he denied the charges. However, Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphin Okundi on Wednesday found the chief guilty after four witnesses testified in the case."The prosecution provided evidence before the court and I have no option but to sentence the accused to 20 years in prison,” said Magistrate Okundi.Be the first to know about hot news stories when they break.
