Rutara village chief, Nyandarua county, was on Monday arraigned in a Nakuru court and charged with defiling a 14-year-old child.
Jonah Macharia was alleged to have committed the shameful act on March 13 and gave a stern warning to the girl not to disclose the information to anyone.
He denied charges of committing the indecent act and defilement before the Principal Magistrate Joe Omindo.
He was released on a Sh200 000 bond with a surety of similar amount. The case will be mentioned on March 21 to fix a hearing date.
Meanwhile, a teacher from Maji Tamu Academy, Rongai sub-county in Nakuru was charged with defiling a 13-year-old girl at the school staff room.
Kipchumba Bonde was accused of enticing the minor to the staff room twice, on February 2 and February 6 where he proceeded to commit the heinous act.
He had given the minor a stern warning against reporting this to anybody.He denied the charges.He was released on a Sh200 000 bond with a surety of similar amount.
The case will be mentioned on March 23.
