Lanet Chief Francis Kariuki has urged local information experts to embrace internet technology in the management of knowledge, in order for them to diversify their professional duties.
The internet savvy Chief, who is popularly known for his love of social media in his administrative work said information experts ought to play an active role in popularizing internet technology in society.
Kariuki said this on Thursday at the Kenya Library Services auditorium, when he addressed information sciences professionals during a workshop on the Conservation and Restoration of Information, which was organized by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), which was attended by Nakuru-based librarians, archivists and record managers.
“As information experts, you are in a better position to diversify your work by embracing internet technology,” said Kariuki.
“You can easily reach out to your clients and partners by informing them about your work routines, trends and plans using facebook, tweeter, among other social media platforms,” observed Kariuki.
Kariuki tweets his administrative activities and inspiration materials to residents of his area of jurisdiction on a 24-7 basis.
