Chief David Rono of Chematich Location has declared war on drug peddlers selling drugs to school-going children.
Speaking today at Chematich Shopping Centre during a public meeting, Rono expressed concern at the rate at which minors are been exposed to the risks of drugs.
“I will not spare anybody who sells drugs to students. The nefarious business has infiltrated in all public schools where students have been prime targets,” said Rono.
He added, “Some minors as low as sixteen sneak from schools and go to the rivers to smoke bhang. This cannot be allowed to happen.”
The administrator called for concerted efforts by members of society to help in sealing illegal entry points of drugs to schools.
“Some students will drop out of school because of drug consumption,” said Rono.
Rono said unless urgent efforts are taken to counteract the vice, the lives of many students are at high risk of wasting.
Today's meeting was convened due to the outcry by parents on the rise of bhang smoking by their teens.
The chief urged law enforcement to conduct anti-narcotic surveillance and dismantle the entry of drug points to schools.
“Security agencies should be vigilant on entry points of bhang and seal the points,” said Rono.
