Solai location chief, Mark Mogotio, has warned individuals engaged in illegal livestock trade noting they risk being suspected as cattle rustlers. The chief, while addressing livestock traders at Solai livestock market, said that it was illegal for anyone to engage in any business venture without a license from the government noting that livestock trade was a delicate venture that requires transparency. “Am warning people who are involved in selling livestock without a license or approval from government officers to stop. This business is very delicate and you may be suspected to be involved in livestock rustling,’’ said Mogotio. He told the livestock traders to exercise caution in their business dealings to avoid illegal livestock transactions that can land them in trouble. Mogotio said his office would soon start registering licensed livestock traders and meat dealers to curb livestock related crime. He said that registered livestock traders would be issued with a notification for identifying themselves whenever they go about in the area or outside buying or selling livestock products. He added: “This measure will be for your own good. If you buy stolen livestock it is you who will get in trouble. Likewise if you don’t have a notification from the government you will not engage in illegal livestock dealings because you will be arrested.’’
