Vuva passed the announcement after a crackdown she conducted with the help of police officers in IvumMung'alabuni village on Thursday night nabbing more than 100 litters of illicit brew which was hidden in holes dug underground and covered by soil and branches.

"The authorities are aware of the illicit dirty tactics being innovated to continue the dirty business, and we will not stop at anything in the fight of illicit brewing which we have seen kill and leave our people blind in past experiences," said Chief Vuva.

She said that they the region authorities have had problems finding the brewers and have discovered that the brewing is done in areas far away and distributed in the region by bodaboda operators who she warned will soon be arrested and face the law.

She also warned bar owners who open back doors of their pubs and operate before and after restricted hours for selling alcoholic drinks, announcing that the authorities are aware of that tactic too and anyone found doing that will be arrested and will face the law.
