Riabai location chief Francis Migunda has warned youths against drug use and substance abuse in Kiambu County.
Migunda, who was speaking at the Kiambu Children Rehabilitation home, said that young people seem to have 'small dreams' about the future. This, according to the chief, is because youths easily get lured into drugs and substance use which ruin their future.
While advising children at the rehab centre, the chief said that it was unfortunate for young people who were regarded to hold the future as leaders of tomorrow to get involved in drug abuse.
“Indulgence in drugs will help no one or add any value to the drug users. The youths should shun the practice and instead embrace education,” said the chief.
Migunda, who warned that anyone found drunk and causing breach of peace would be arrested and charged, also regretted that young people in their prime and productive age were engaging in drugs which would impact negatively on them.
He urged parents to instil discipline in their children so that they grow responsibly. He added that youths should embrace discipline and shun all forms of unworthy practices to remain relevant in the society.
