Chiefs and their assistants have been advised to embrace education for them to rise up fast in public service, in terms of job groups/ranks.

Speaking to our reporter on Thursday, Kiambu Deputy County Commissioner Norbert Komora said that since the government has a flexible scheme of service that can enable chiefs and their assistants to be promoted to higher ranks, adding that they need to work hard and gain higher education.

Komora, who gave an example of an assistant chief who was promoted to an assistant county commissioner after she acquired a bachelor’s degree, urged her other colleagues to go back to classes and acquire papers for them to grow quickly in public service.

He revealed that Banana sub-location assistant chief, Patricia Kago, after acquiring her bachelor’s degree was elevated from the position of an assistant chief to an assistant county commissioner, indicating the need for others to emulate her exponential growth.

“Recently, Banana Sub-location assistant chief, Patricia Kago was promoted to an assistant county commissioner and her academic bachelor’s degree paper truly earned her the success. Government, due to its flexible scheme of service indeed recognises hard work and gives rewards accordingly and thus chiefs need to grab/utilise the opportunity ‘gluttonously’,” said the DCC.

The administrator also called on every member of the public to own the responsibility of ensuring that security within the area and its surrounding environs is not at stake by volunteering any vital information to relevant authorities, regarding suspicious characters that may interfere with peace in the area for prompt action to be enforced.
