Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga has sent a stern warning to local chiefs and police for allegedly colluding with illicit brewers.

Wanyaga says that government officials found aiding the outlawed illicit brew business will be sacked arrested and prosecuted.

The Kiambu county commissioner said that a special team has been put in place to investigate the allegations, adding that those implicated should be ready to face the wrath of the law.

The county commissioner asked members of the public to expose chiefs or other government officials aiding illicit brewing.

Wanyanga said that the fight against illicit liquor is going to be intensified, saying that those involving in it should surrender.

He said that chiefs have been directed to conduct raids on suspected dens and make arrests.

“We are not joking and whoever thinks we are  should wait and see what happens to those who will be found making or selling outlawed liquor,” he  told journalist's at the Kiambu county offices on Thursday.

Wanyanga said that his office is working closely with the county and the national government to tame illicit brewing.

The county commissioner also send warning to bar owners preventing  police from carrying out inspections.

He said that those who will obstruct the police from doing their work will have themselves to blame.

On Tuesday, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu said that he will not be intimidated in the ongoing crackdown on illicit brews.

Waititu who has received backlash from a section of bar owners in Thika for leading the crackdown said that he will smoke out illicit liquor makers and sellers from their hideouts.
