Chiefs and their assistants from Gesima Division face imminent sack if they fail to combat rampant illicit brewing in the region, area Assistant Deputy County Commissioner has said.
Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting at Nyamakoroto region, Ms Veronica Wangui said the menace could be combated if the administrators remain fully committed in enforcing the law.
She warned them against collaborating with the brewers and said she will not hesitate to recommend their dismissal from duty.
“Every one of you has a role to play in ensuring that this illicit brewing is dealt with accordingly. We cannot allow people to break the law yet we have the man power to enforce the law against those involved,” she said.
“I will not hesitate to take action against those who may be found collaborating with these criminals. You are all enabled by the government so we have to work together and change the mindset of our people or you face a sack,” she added.
Wangoi revealed that two chiefs were under probe for allegedly facilitating illicit brewers and said their names will be made public once investigations are completed.
“Two of your colleagues are currently under probe for engaging in illicit brewing or facilitating those involved. I will reveal their names once the investigations are complete. Believe me that they must be sacked if found guilty because we have a prime role as administrators to bring sanity by enforcing government directives,” she added.
