The national government has announced that it will continue reliving national administration officers who fail to combat illicit brews in the country.
Nyanza Regional Coordinator Wilson Njega put on notice the administration officers who abet brewing and selling of the illicit liquor in the region.
Njega said the government has made a stand that illicit brew is stamped out and will not condone officers who are not ready to implement the order.
“No officer will be spared in this fight if they deemed to be protecting illicit brewers,” he said.
He said officers who lazy around in their duty will be relived and new persons recruited to take over.
Addressing all chiefs and their assistants in Kisumu County on Wednesday, Njega said Kenyans must be protected from consuming brews that are harmful to their lives.
He said the government will not continue paying salary to officers who are not ready to take orders for implementation.
“You can’t be drawing hefty salary from the government and instead of working you are busy sabotaging the government. You will not be spared,” he said.
The Coordinator announced that the mobility of chiefs has been enhanced following the distribution of motorbikes.
He said they are now required to patrol their jurisdictions with ease and be able to spot where the liquor is being brewed or sold.
