North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh said that Al-Shabaab attacks in the area are being carried out and led by Kenyan youths known to the community.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Saturday, Mr. Saleh said the suspects behind the attack are Maalim Yussuf Abdullahi from Boji Qaras, Daud Ahmed Mohamed from Kotulo with his cousin Abdirashid Ibrahim Osman.

“These suspects are well known to the community. I am now instructing my chiefs from the area to produce these Al-Shabaab elements. Unless they produce them they will continue harassing Kenyans and attacking other soft targets including government institutions,” said Mr. Saleh.

The regional coordinator further urged the residents to work closely and volunteer information to security agencies that will help assist in fighting terrorism.

“I would like to tell wananchi in those areas to work closely with security apparatus by volunteering information because it is only by doing so that the officers will be able to act on time,” he added.

Mr. Saleh said a contingent of security personnel led by KDF was combing the area all the way to the border with war-torn Somalia in pursuit of the suspects.

The three non-local teachers were on Friday killed at Qarsa Primary School in Wajir following a dawn attack by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

The three teachers were identified as Seth Oluoch Odada, Kevin Shari and Ms. Caroline, the wife of Seth who were killed in the school’s compound.
