Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has put on notice chiefs who collude with those selling illicit brew that they will be sacked.
He said that there are chiefs and their assistants who hide those selling illegal brew after they have been bribed.
“I have received credible information that there are some chiefs who hide those involved in the sale of licit liquor. Those who will be found protect illegal alcohol sellers will be arrested, charged and thereafter sacked,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
“We cannot allow some few self-centered individuals tarnish our good name, I will deal with them ruthlessly. It is our mandate to fight this scam and not to protect those involved," he added.
He urged the public to stay vigilant and report any chief they suspect to be helping those selling illegal alcohol, saying that stern actions will be taken against them.
"You the public are our eyes outside there, report any chief who is corrupt and we won’t relent to act," he said.
