Two chiefs are in police custody for allegedly stealing and selling relief food in Merti, Isiolo county.
George Natembeya, Isiolo County Commissioner confirmed the arrests and said that the chiefs will be taken to court on Monday.
"Locals spotted the chiefs selling relief food to one of the local stores in Merti town and reported the matter to police," Natembeya said while speaking to jounarlists.
The buyer, who bought the food is also in police cells awaiting to be charged in court.
Relief food is free to needy people suffering from hunger.
The arrests comes after Garissa township Mp and National assembly majority leader Aden Duale warned that administrators found stealing and selling relief food will be dealt with accordingly by law.
