Local chiefs across Kisii County have been asked to crackdown students and pupils who have dropped out of school.
Giving the orders on Tuesday, Kisii County deputy commissioner Peter Mbugi asked all parents to ensure that they take their children to school.
Mr Mbugi asked chiefs, assistant chiefs and Nyumba Kumi officials to coordinate and ensure all children who have attained the age of going to school, do so.
“The government is offering free education for every child. We expect children to be at school and not loitering in villages,” he said.
"Action will also be taken against parents who keep their children at home because they are denying the young ones their rights," he added.
