Witu division residents have accused chiefs of interfering with the formation of community policing groups and appointment of village heads and Nyumba Kumi officials.
The residents, led by Amon Wanje, said the office of county commissioner should intervene to stop the chiefs from interfering in the process.
They said many of those who have been appointed have been compromised.
This comes after in September, Coast Regional coordinator Nelson Marwa toured Lamu county and disbanded all community policing groups and ordered the formation of new ones, saying they had been compromised.
The community groups will help boost security in the county to curb attacks from the external enemies especially Al Shabaab terrorists.
