Chiefs in Kisii South have been cautioned against the culture of applying double standards when handling criminal activities in their areas of jurisdiction.
Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi accused chiefs for failing to eradicate the brewing of illegal brew.
"All the chiefs have the machineries needed to address the menace but majority of them are not up to task," he said.
He asked them to also ensure that they eraeradicate gambling which according to him was affecting education.
He was speaking on Monday after holding a crackdown in various subcounties in the area.
He threatened to sack chiefs who were not going to improve.
"All the chiefs who are not up to task I will personally send them home, their is no shortcut about it," he said.
In the crackdown, police officers managed to confiscate 77 gambling machines found in different shopping centres in the town.
They also destroyed second generation liquor and arrested several dealers.
"It has come to my notice that several dealers are being protected by public officers who instead should help contain the situation," he said.
Mr Kigochi said that he will take action against them.
This is the third time this year officers in Kisii are holding a crackdown against gambling and d generation liquor.
This is after an order was given by Interior security CS Fred Matiang'i.
