“The 10-year old boy was grabbed on his arm when he bent to draw water with his container. The other children ran and called the residents who alerted the KWS officers and launched a search for the child. Speaking during a Sunday service at AIC Muthesya on Sunday afternoon after the incident, area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Nzioki called upon the parents to teach their children on the dangers of the river.

“As we are preparing to get tapped water to every home, I urge parents to educate and caution their children to avoid such. It is the fourth case in a duration of four months which unfortunate,” said Nzioki.

KWS officers from Oldonyo Sabuk took the boy’s body to Matuu nursing home mortuary.

The residents called upon the county government to hasten the implementation of their promise to provide tapped water in every home to avoid such accidents.
