A fierce Saturday morning fire in Roret estate in Ngata left a one-year-old baby dead and 3 others injured.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukata said five people were in the house during the morning incident.
The one-year-old baby girl was burnt beyond recognition while both her parents and another child suffered serious burns.
“Only one child escaped unhurt after her mother threw her out of the house before she was choked by the smoke. The rest were rushed to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital where they are still undergoing treatment,” Omukata said.
According to area residents, efforts by neighbours to contain the fire using buckets of water bore no fruits while no property was salvaged.
Police have launched investigations into the cause of the inferno but leaking gas cylinder is suspected to have exploded.
