Onyancha who is a career teacher, said that engaging school children in domestic duties, compromised their education concentration as they become too exhausted and tired to take their school assignments seriously.

Speaking at Endereti COG Mixed Secondary School in his constituency on Wednesday, Onyancha challenged local communities to shun the habit of overburdening school children with overwhelming domestic chores at the expense of their education.

“I am warning parents from this area against overwhelming their school children with burdens of discharging domestic duties at the expense of their education and careers, since such engagements denied them quality time to concentrate in their school assignments,” said Onyancha.

The legislator reminded the local parents that it was illegal both in the country's laws and the international laws to engage children in any kind of child labour at the expense of their health and social development.
