Three children have been admitted at the Kalimoni Mission Hospital with symptoms of Bilhazia.
Speaking in the hospital on Monday, Dr Charles Wahome, a medic in the hospital said that the children played in contaminated water.
He said that during this rainy season, it was risky for children to be contaminated because they tend to like playing in stagnant water during rainy seasons.
The doctor said that the three from the same neighbourhood were said to have played on stagnant water on Friday before things got worse and they were admitted in hospital on Monday.
"I want to advise parents to ensure their children don't play when it is raining. After raining, they shouldn't play with stagnant water as they pose a health risk. These diseases can kill and parents should be cautious," said Wahome.
He also advised them to dress their children in warm clothes and ensure they buy them gumboots just in case they defy their rules of playing with stagnant water.
One of the parents, Ms Hannah Wanjiru said that her eight-year-old son together with her two friends played at a field with stagnant water after the rains.
She said that her son started developing coughs and fever and she opted to seek medical attention.
