According to reports filed at Keroka Police station, at least seven people have registered complaints relating to children kidnapping in the last one month.
Speaking on Thursday, Keroka OCPD Wilfred Korir issued a stern warning to lazy parents who have been soft target for the child trafficking criminals to stop leaving their children alone at home or sending them to trading Cenres.
He said That many of the cases under investigations are closely related to irresponsibility on the part of parents, which OCPD Korir said should be urgently dealt with.
“It is a constitutional role of parents and guardians to take care of their children. It is therefore my responsibility to take action against ignorant and lazy parents. Most of these cases are allegedly as a result of negligence from parents and guardians,” said Korir.
However, parents from affected area have responded to the OCPD’s warning by unleashing scathing attacks to the Police force over ‘incompetence’ based on the Police’s commitment to fight the crime.
“Kidnapping of children is a global pandemic and cannot be narrowed down to just ignorance from parents. Criminals executing the act are sort of a global network that co-ordinates well even better than incompetent Police force,” said Alice Ong’era, a victim of the crime who lost her 3years daughter in the aforementioned period.
