Nyamagwa Parish has carried out an HIV and Aids sensitisation campaign in Kisii County’s Keumbu area.

The program whose theme was abstinence was targeted at the pupils to teach them ways of how to avoid contracting HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).

Addressing the pupils and those in attendance, the regional coordinator Marcos Casiraghi, on behalf of the Diocese of Kisii, said that they founded this program to curb infections among the youth.

 “Our main objectives are to promote good set of virtues and create awareness among the young generation,” said Casiraghi.

He added that they visit targeted schools every week with a team of two facilitators to enlighten the youth on sexuality matters.

“We deliver different topics which include health issues and risk behaviours among others. We also teach them how to go through problems by inculcatin life skills,” he added.

Hephziba Masese, one the teachers who attended encouraged the youth to be good ambassadors and to live upright.

Martha Moraa a pupil said that they must take care of their sexual health by abstaining till marriage.
