Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Esther Njeri Magiricited that there needs to be a special kitty to take care of the children

“Many of the children are left in the hands of their grandparents most of whom are not financially stable,” she added.

She said that most of the children remained depressed and afflicted since they could not access even basic necessities.

“As we celebrate 30 years of HIV in Kenya, we have to remember that there are some children who were born with that disease. They never chose to have it. They should be given special care especially in ensuring that they got balanced meals, a proper shelter and food,” she said.

She cited that many people did not want to follow up on the children hence posing a great problem to their future.

“We seek the government’s intervention into making sure that they are recognised. Many have given up in life and yet they have so much potential. They have a very hard time dealing with their status. The government should help in promoting them instead of neglecting them as they have done before,” she added.
