There is a ray of hope for 65 children rescued from a Likoni Madrassa after a court ordered for their admission in different schools across the nation. Resident magistrate L.K Sindani issued an order that the children be taken to normal schools to enable them to pursue their education.
He also directed the guardians and parents to present the court with the letters of admission during the next session of the case.
The court allowed the parents and guardians to take custody of the children pending investigations. The Madrassa has been hosting several children from all over the continent including refugees from Somalia. The children were rescued following an operation conducted by both Kenya and British authorities.
The youngsters are said to be from different nations including Somalia, United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Canada, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya.
In a sworn affidavit, Children officer Stanley Mkala told the court that the prosecution team is still probing possible cases of sexual abuse of the children.
The court also ordered the Al-Falah Madrassatul mosque to remain closed until the investigations are complete.
The case will be heard on March 29.
