Children from 11 children homes in Thika enjoyed an Easter treat organised by the Chapati Forum and individual donors.
In the party dubbed ‘Chapati Forum Easter Edition’ hundreds of children from Thika and its environs were fed, given clothing and entertained by various artistes and volunteers at the Thika YMCA grounds.
Forum founder and co-ordinator Roman Kariuki said that the event is meant to encourage community participation in helping the needy.
“Our objective is to bring children and families from various backgrounds together and address life’s challenges. This goes a long way in helping keep the youth from anti-social behavior such as crime,” he said.
Kariuki said the children were also taken through mentorship and motivational sessions.
"Other than cooking we did a lot of talent discovering through talent show and modeling and the kids got motivation from renowned artists," he added.
He said the forum, established seven years ago, will also reach out to prisoners and rehabilitate street families.
