Photo /nation.co.ke.Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (Iebc) CEO Ezra Chiloba has moved to defend two commission officials who were caught tampering with presidential ballot boxes in Embakasi on Saturday.
Speaking in an interview with KTN News on Monday,Chiloba said the duo who comprised an two deputy returning officers attached to Embakasi South polling station had gone to avail Form 34A to the commission which they had failed to deliver after elections.
"The returning officer for Embakasi South is hospitalized and so he requested his deputy to go to the polling station and a avail the form 34As.However when they got there they found the documents but in the process, the police had to raise concerns about the access of the ballot boxes," he said.
He added that they, however, notified agents of both Nasa and Jubilee about the incident and collectively deliberated on the way forward for the forms even as he blamed the two officials of acting without consultations.
The two officials who are still in police custody are however set to be arraigned in court to answer to charges relating to election malparactice.
