The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will not extend the voter registration exercise when it concludes on February 14, CEO Ezra Chiloba has announced.
On Wednesday, Chiloba said the commission is working under a tight timeline, adding that the IEBC targets to register at least 200,000 new voters daily to meet its goal of about six million new voters.
"The IEBC will not extend the registration period and those that will not register will be excluded from voting. We have legal timelines that we must observe. We will do matching and reduplication to ensure no one is registered more than once," he said as quoted by the Star.
"Our target is to register 200,000 people daily to achieve six million," he added.
The second phase of the second mass registration process started on January 16 and it is set to run for one month.
