[Photo: Citizen Digital]Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba has told off NASA leader Raila Odinga over his incessant calls to have him (Chiloba) resign from the electoral agency.Chiloba maintained that he won't resign from IEBC as he is there to oversee the repeat presidential polls to the end. This may have come as a shocker to Raila who may be hoping that Chiloba will succumb to pressure and mass demos and resign. The IEBC secretariat boss has said that the commission has been an institution in transition since the infamous 2007 General Election that left Kenya on the brink of a precipice."IEBC is hardly 8 years old yet it has seen more political persecutions than what all the other constitutional commissions have witnessed combined. How do we build a strong electoral agency if whenever we have challenges we want to dismantle it?" Chiloba told Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday. He added: "For now, all I can urge Kenyans is to allow IEBC to prepare for the fresh presidential poll peacefully because we must not give up on the journey of democratization, which we are almost over with."Chiloba argued that Supreme Court did not find fingerprints of anyone they could prosecute."We conducted an election that was far better managed in the history of our country. I think we became victims of our own success," Chiloba said noting that the Supreme Court nullified the presidential election based on the transmission of results and the forms that were not standardized. He, however, admitted that there are gaps that need to be filled but which must be addressed within the legal framework to put IEBC at a better place to manage elections. On NASA's anti-IEBC or anti-Chiloba demos, he said he is not concerned about them noting that 'I am concerned whether as a country we can come together to address issues affecting us'.
